Issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, on 11th September 2024 under G.S.R. 565(E), this notification, exercising powers under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011, makes the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Year of Official Language) Rules, 2024, effective from the date of publication; it authorises coinage of a seventy-five rupee denomination commemorative coin, circular with a 44 millimetre outside diameter and 200 serrations, composed of a quaternary alloy of 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, 5 per cent nickel and 5 per cent zinc, with a standard weight of 35 grams and a specified remedy allowance (1/500th for silver composition, ranging 498-502 per 1000, and 1/100th for weight, ranging 34.65 to 35.35 grams). The First Schedule specifies the coin's design: the obverse bears the Lion Capitol of the Ashoka Pillar with "Satyameva Jayate," the words "Bharat" and "India," the Rupee symbol and the denominational value "75"; the reverse bears an image of a tree with Hindi alphabets, the inscription "Diamond Jubilee Year of Official Language," and the date "14 September" with the years "1949-2024." G.S.R. 565(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub -section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011(11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely: - 1. Short title and commencement. -(1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Year o f Official Language ) Rules, 2024 . (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin. -The coin of seventy -five rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Year o f Official Language . 3. Dimension and composition of coin. -The denomination of the coin mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely: - Denomination of coin Shape and outside diameter Number of serrations Metal composition (1) (2) (3) (4) Seventy -five Rupees Circular 44 millimetre 200 Quaternary Alloy Silver - 50 per cent. Copper - 40 per cent. Nickel - 05 per cent. Zinc - 05 per cent. 4. Design .- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed. - The stan dard weight of the coin of the denomination referred to in rule 2 shall be coined to commemorate the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Year o f Official Language and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these rules. THE FIRST SCHEDULE (See rule 4) SEVENTY - FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capit ol of Ashoka Pillar in the cent re with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “ INDIA ” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “ ₹” and denominational value “ 75” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the image of a Tree along with vario us Hindi Alphabets in the centre of the coin. The inscription “ राजभाषा का हीरक जयंती वषष” shall be written in Devnagari script on the upper periphery and the inscription “DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR OF OFFICIAL LANGUAGE ” in English is depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The text in Devanagari Script “14 सितंबर ” and the year “ 1949 -2024” in int ernational numeral s shall be w ritten below the image of the T ree. THE SECOND SCHEDULE (See r ule 5) Denomination of coin Standard weight Remedy allowed In composition In standard weight (1) (2) (3) (4) Seventy five Rupees 35 Grams 1/500th plus or minus for Silver, that is to say, the Silver content may vary from 498 to 502 per 1000. 1/100th plus or minus, that is to say , weight could be 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams.
