Its standard weight is 35 Grams, with specified remedies allowed for variations in composition (Silver content 498-502 per 1000) and weight (34.65-35.35 grams). The obverse design features the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with 'INDIA' and '100', while the reverse displays an image of Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, flanked by the years '1925' and '2025', and the inscription 'BIRTH CENTENARY OF PROF. M.S. SWAMINATHAN'. The rules come into force on their publication date in the Official Gazette.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-11072025-264536 EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 420] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY, JULY 11, 2025 MINISTRY OF FINANCE (Department of Economic Affairs) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 10th July, 2025 G.S.R. 463(E). — In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Prof. M.S. Swaminathan) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin.- The coin of One Hundred Rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Prof. M.S. Swaminathan. 3. Design.- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed.- The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 shall be coined to commemorate on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Prof. M.S. Swaminathan and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these rules. FIRST SCHEDULE [See rule 4] ONE HUNDRED RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devnagari script and on the right periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol "₹" and denominational value "100" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall feature the image of Prof. M.S. Swaminathan at the center. The year '1925' in international numerals shall be inscribed on the left side of the image, and the year '2025' shall be inscribed on the right side. The inscription "प्रोफेसर एम.एस. स्वामीनाथन की जन्म शताब्दी" shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription "BIRTH CENTENARY OF PROF. M.S. SWAMINATHAN” shall be inscribed in English on the lower periphery of the coin.
