In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4B, read with section 198 of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Vice Chairman (Selection and Appointment) rules, 2007, namely:- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Vice Chairman (Selection and Appointment) Amendment Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Vice chairmen (Selection and Appointment) Rules, 2007, in rule 4, for sub-rule (1), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely:- “(1) The Vice Chairman shall be selected by a Search-cum-Selection Committee comprising of the following members, namely: - (a) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Railway Board as Chairperson; (b) Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board and ex-officio Chairman, Rail Land Development Authority, as Member; (c) Director General (Human Resources), Railway Board, as Member; and (d) A person of eminence and expert in the relevant field, who is not in the service of Indian Railways or its Public Sector Undertaking, to be nominated by the Central Government, as Member."
