The Ministry of Defence, on behalf of the Central Government, issued S.R.O. 18(E) on November 10, 2025, declaring a variation in the constitution of specific Cantonment Boards. This declaration is made in exercise of powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) and sub-section (4) of section 13 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006). The variation is deemed desirable for the administration of these Cantonments, particularly where the terms of current members are set to expire. The affected Cantonment Boards and their respective dates of expiry and effective variation are: Pachmarhi (expiry 29.11.2025, vary from 30.11.2025), Badamibagh (expiry 02.12.2025, vary from 03.12.2025), Jammu (expiry 02.12.2025, vary from 03.12.2025), Ramgarh (expiry 02.12.2025, vary from 03.12.2025), and Meerut (expiry 12.01.2026, vary from 13.01.2026). This variation will be effective for a period of one year or until the said Boards are constituted under Section 12 of the Cantonments Act, 2006, whichever occurs earlier.
