The SEZ was originally proposed by M/s. RGA Infrastructure under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), located at Sy. No. 31/1 Chikkankannelli Village, Varthur Hobli, Bangalore East Taluk, Bangalore, Karnataka. Previously, the Central Government had notified areas for this SEZ, including 1.59 hectares via S.O. 387(E) dated 09.02.2017 and an additional 1.18 hectares via S.O. 6030(E) dated 28.11.2018, bringing the total to 2.77 hectares. M/s. RGA Infrastructure subsequently proposed the de-notification of 1.18 hectares. This proposal received approval from the State Government of Karnataka via letter No.CI 170 SPI 2018 dated 10th October, 2025, with the understanding that the de-notified land would be used for non-SEZ IT infrastructure, aligning with the SEZ's original objective. The Development Commissioner, Cochin Special Economic Zone, also recommended the de-notification. Exercising powers under the second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006, the Central Government de-notified the 1.18 hectares (Survey No. 31/1, Chikkankannelli Village), resulting in a total remaining SEZ area of 1.59 hectares.

RGA Infrastructure, had proposed under section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005), (hereinafter referred to as the said Act) to set up a Special Economic Zone for IT/ITES SEZ at Sy. RGA Infrastructure has now proposed for de-notification of 1.18 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Karnataka has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No.CI 170 SPI 2018 dated 10th October, 2025. Further, after de-notification, the land parcels would be utilized towards creation of IT infrastructure (Non SEZ), which would sub serve the objective of the SEZ as originally envisaged and such de-notified area will confirm to land use guidelines/master plans of the respective State Government; AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Cochin Special Economic Zone has recommended the proposal for de-notification of an area of 1.18 hectares of the above the Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006, the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 1.18 hectares of the above Special Economic Zone, thereby making the total area of the Special Economic Zone as 1.59 hectares.
