Notification S.O. 2520(E) dated 9th June, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, declares the services engaged in the industry of Defence establishments as a public utility service for a further period of six months, effective from 24th June, 2025. This declaration is made by the Central Government in exercise of powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947). The Central Government deemed this extension necessary in the public interest, following a prior declaration of the same industry as a public utility service for six months from 24th December, 2024, through notification S.O. 5513(E) dated 20th December, 2024.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-09062025-263686 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2460] NEW DELHI, MONDAY, JUNE 9, 2025/JYAISTHA 19, 1947 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 9th June, 2025 S.O. 2520(E).—WHEREAS the Central Government is satisfied that the public interest so requires that the services engaged in the industry of defence establishments, which is covered under item 8 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; AND WHEREAS, the Central Government has declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from 24th December, 2024 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, number S.O. 5513 (E), dated the 20th December, 2024; AND WHEREAS, the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry for a further period of six months; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services engaged in the industry of Defence establishments to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a further period of six months with effect from the 24th June, 2025.
