The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, through Notification S.O. 3600(E) issued on August 5, 2025, announces that the Central Government, exercising powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), hereby declares the computer resources relating to the Core Banking Solution (CBS) and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Switch of the South Indian Bank, identified as Critical Information Infrastructure, along with their associated dependencies, to be protected systems. The notification further authorizes the South Indian Bank to specify, by written order, the persons permitted to access these protected systems. Authorized persons include any designated employee of the South Indian Bank, team members of contractual managed service providers or third-party vendors for need-based access, and consultants, regulators, Government officials, auditors, or stakeholders on a case-to-case basis. This notification, published on August 6, 2025, comes into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
