NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 29th October, 2025
Subject: Migration to IS/IEC 62368 : Part 1: 2023 from IS 13252 : Part 1: 2010 and IS 616: 2017
S.O. 4997(E). In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16 read with
sub-section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Central Government, vide
S.O. 1248(E) published in the Gazette of India on 18th March, 2021, had notified the products specified in Column (2)
of the Schedule to the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration)
Order, 2021" for compliance with the corresponding standards indicated in Column (3).
And whereas, Indian Standards IS 13252 : Part 1: 2010 and IS 616:2017 have been superseded by IS/IEC 62368 :
Part 1: 2023;
Now, therefore, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments to the "Electronics and Information
Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021":
(i) The Entry "IS 13252 : Part 1 : 2010" in Column (3) and “Information Technology Equipment - Safety
General Requirements" in column (4) shall be substituted by “IS/IEC 62368 : Part 1: 2023 " and "Audio/Video,
Information and Communication Technology Equipment - Part 1 Safety Requirements" respectively.
(ii) The Entry "IS 616:2017" in Column (3) and "Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus - Safety
Requirements" in column (4) shall be substituted by "IS/IEC 62368 : Part 1 : 2023" and "Audio/Video, Information
and Communication Technology Equipment - Part 1 Safety Requirements" respectively.
(iii) The following entry be added at S. No. 65 in the Schedule of the "Electronics and Information Technology
Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021.

(iv) For good specified at Serial No 65, the period of concurrent running for standards IS 13252 : Part 1: 2010
and IS 616: 2017 with IS/IEC 62368 : Part 1 : 2023 shall be permitted until 1st May, 2026.
(v) For all other goods mentioned above the period of concurrent running for standards IS 13252 : Part 1: 2010
and IS 616: 2017 with IS/IEC 62368 : Part 1 : 2023 shall be permitted untill 1st November, 2028. After this date, IS
13252: Part 1: 2010 and IS 616:2017 shall stand withdrawn.
