The Ministry of Textiles, on July 3, 2025, issued Order S.O. 2996(E), titled the Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023. The amendment specifically modifies paragraph 1, sub-paragraph (2) of the principal Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023. The original provision for the principal order to come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette is substituted with a new effective date: the 27th day of August, 2026. The principal Order, S.O. 948 (E), was initially published in the Gazette of India on February 28, 2023, and subsequently amended by notification S.O. 3557 (E) dated August 7, 2023, S.O. 3830(E) dated August 28, 2023, and S.O. 3469(E) dated August 13, 2024. L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-07072025-264427 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2929] NEW DELHI, THURSDAY, JULY 3, 2025/ASHADHA 12, 1947 MINISTRY OF TEXTILES ORDER New Delhi, the 3 July, 2025 S.O. 2996(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16 read with section 17 and sub-section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Central Government is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do in the public interest and after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, hereby makes the following order to amend the Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023, namely:- 1. (1) This Order may be called the Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023. (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Cotton Bales (Quality Control) Order, 2023, in paragraph 1, for sub-paragraph (2), the following sub-paragraph shall be substituted, namely:- “(2) It shall come into force on the 27th day of August, 2026.”.
