The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) issued Notification S.O. 2506(E) on June 7, 2025, publishing an Order made by the President. In pursuance of clause (1) of article 280 of the Constitution of India, read with the provisions of the Finance Commission (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1951 (33 of 1951), the President appointed Shri T. Rabi Sankar as a part-time Member of the Sixteenth Finance Commission. The appointee shall hold office from the date of assuming office until the submission of the Report by the said Finance Commission or October 31, 2025, whichever is earlier. This Order continues previous notifications S.O. 5533(E), dated December 31, 2023, and S.O. 369(E), dated January 30, 2024, concerning the constitution of the Sixteenth Finance Commission. The order was signed by Droupadi Murmu, President of India, and attested by Solomon Arokiaraj, Addl. Secy. (Budget).

Rabi Sankar as a part-time Member of the Sixteenth Finance Commission. 2. The said part-time Member shall hold office from the date on which he assumes office up to the date of submission of Report by the said Finance Commission or 31st October, 2025, whichever is earlier. 3. This Order is in continuation of the notification numbers S.O. 5533(E), dated the 31st December, 2023, and S.O. 369(E), dated the 30th January, 2024, issued with respect to the constitution of Sixteenth Finance Commission.
