L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-07052024-254077 EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 1850] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2024/VAISAKHA 17, 1946 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 7th May, 2024 S.O. 1943(E).— Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that public interest so requires that the services engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry, which are covered under items 14 and 15 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947) to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; And whereas the Central Government has declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 9th November, 2023 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment number S.O. 4870(E), dated the 9th November, 2023; And whereas the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry for a further period of six months; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby issues the following order as follows: - 1. Short title and Commencement. - (1) This order may be called the Public Utility Services (Fifth Order) 2024. (2) It shall come into force on the 9th day of May, 2024. 2. The Central Government hereby declares the services engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a further period of six months with effect from 9th May, 2024.
