The Ministry of Labour and Employment, via S.O. 3504(E) dated 4th August 2023, in exercise of powers under the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), declared the industries engaged in Manufacturing of Alumina and Aluminium and Mining of Bauxite (items 30 and 31 of the First Schedule to the Act) to be public utility services for a further period of six months with effect from the date of publication; it recalls that these industries were last declared public utility services for six months from 15th December 2022 vide notification S.O. 5881(E) dated 15th December 2022; the extension is stated to be based on the Central Government's opinion that public interest requires it; signed by Deepika Kachhal, Jt. EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 3353] NEW DE LHI, FRIDAY, AUGUST 4, 2023/ SHRAVANA 13, 1945 CG-DL-E-05082023-247888 2 THE GAZETT E OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(ii)] MINISTRY OF LABOUR A ND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 4 th August, 2023 S.O. 3504(E). —Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that the public interest so requires that the services of the industries engaged in Manu facturing of Alumina and Aluminium and Mining of Bauxite, which are covered under items 30 and 31, respectively, of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), be declared to be public utility services for the purposes of the sai d Act; And whereas the Central Government has lastly declared the said industries to be public utility services for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from the 15th December, 2022 vide notification of the Government of India in the Min istry of Labour and Employment number S.O. 5881(E), dated the 15th December, 2022; And whereas the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industries for a further period of six months; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub -clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services of the said indus tries to be public utility services for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the date of publication of this notification.
