L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-05052026-272246 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2117] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2026/VAISAKHA 15, 1948 MINISTRY OF ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IPHW Division) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 5th May, 2026 Subject: Amendment to the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021" S.O. 2204(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) and (2) of section 16 read with sub section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, (11 of 2016), the Central Government is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do in the public interest, hereby makes the following amendments to the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021": The entry at Column 2 of S. No. 50 in the Schedule of the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 shall be substituted as "Standalone Hard Disk Drives" +-------+-----------------------+-----------------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | S. The requirements for USB Type External Hard Disk Drives shall continue to be governed as per the existing notified provisions. For all other standalone HDDs, the provisions of the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021" shall apply with effect from 5th November.
