By notification S.O. 1631(E) dated 5th April 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division), acting under sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008) read with sub-section (8) of Section 24 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974), appointed a large number of named Advocates as Special Public Prosecutors to conduct National Investigation Agency cases before designated NIA Special Courts and High Courts across Maharashtra, the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, Delhi and Puducherry, generally for a term of three years or, for a subset of case-specific appointments listed in a second table including NIA case numbers such as RC-13/2020/NIA/DLI and RC-41/2022/NIA/DLI, until completion of the trial and related matters, effective from the date of publication or until further orders, whichever is earlier; the notification was signed by Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary, under File No. 11011/38/2024/NIA.
