No. 02/09/2024-Coin), in exercise of powers under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), made the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the Occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji) Rules, 2024, effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. The rules authorise a One Hundred Fifty Rupees denomination commemorative coin, to be coined at the Mint, circular in shape with a 44 millimetre outside diameter, 200 serrations, and a Quaternary Alloy composition of 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, 5 per cent nickel and 5 per cent zinc, with a standard weight of 35 grams (remedy of 1/500th for silver content, varying 498 to 502 per 1000, and 1/100th for standard weight, i.e., 34.65 to 35.35 grams). The First Schedule specifies the coin's design: the obverse bears the Lion Capitol of the Ashoka Pillar with the legend 'Satyamev Jayate', 'Bharat' in Devanagari and 'INDIA' in English, the Rupee symbol, and the denominational value '150'; the reverse bears the image of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji with inscriptions in Devanagari and English marking the '150th Birth Anniversary of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji' and the years 1874 and 2024. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the Occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin.- The coin of one hundred fifty rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji. 3. Design.- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed.- The standard weight of the coin of the denomination referred to in rule 2 shall be coined to commemorate the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules. THE FIRST SCHEDULE [See rule 4] ONE HUNDRED FIFTY RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devnagari script and on the right periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol "₹" and denominational value "150" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the image of the Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji in the centre of the coin. The inscription "जैन आचार्य श्रीमद् बुद्धिसागर सूरीश्वरजी महाराज जी की 150 वीं जयंती" shall be written in Devnagari script on the upper periphery and the inscription “150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF JAIN ACHARYA SHRIMAD BUDDHISAGAR SURISHWARJI MAHARAJJI” in English is depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The years “1874” and “2024” in international numerals shall be flanked on left and right periphery of the coin.
