By notification S.O. 5191(E) dated 27th November 2024, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, exercising powers under section 79A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), notifies the Cyber Forensic Laboratory of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), located at Electronics Niketan, 6 CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, as an Examiner of Electronic Evidence within India. The designated scope of examination covers: (i) Computer (Media) Forensics, including Drone Storage Media but excluding Floppy Disk Drive; (ii) Mobile Devices Forensics; (iii) CCTV Forensics Media Recovery, excluding Video Authentication and Enhancement; and (iv) Cloud Forensics, to be carried out from the Cyber Forensic Laboratory's premises using access authentication tokens and credentials recovered from seized exhibits. The notification rescinds the earlier gazette notification No. S.O. 3568(E) dated 9th October 2020, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii).
