Notification for extension of validity order issued under the Jute Packaging Materials Compulsory Use in packing commodities Act 1987 regarding mandatory packaging of foodgrains and sugar

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-03102024-257660 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 3960] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2024/ASVINA 9, 1946 MINISTRY OF TEXTILES ORDER New Delhi, the 1st October, 2024 S.O. 4319(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jute Packaging Materials (Compulsory Use in Packing Commodities) Act, 1987 (10 of 1987), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the Order of the Government of India in the Ministry of Textiles, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, sub-Section (ii) vide number S.O. 5459(E), dated the 26th December, 2023, namely:- In the said Order, in the Preamble, in paragraph 4, for the words, figures and letters “up to the 30th June, 2024", the words, figures and letters "up to the 31st December, 2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier" shall be substituted. Note 1 of the Notification published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, sub-section (ii) vide number S.O. 5459 (E), dated the 26th December, 2023 may be read as :- "Subject to the outcome of sub-judice matter pending in Hon'ble High Court of Calcutta, Initially ten per cent of the indents for foodgrains are to be placed through reverse auction on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal."
