The Ministry of Defence, through S.R.O. 15(E) dated 2nd September, 2025, notifies the Central Government's declaration to alter the name of the existing Belgaum Cantonment to Belagavi Cantonment. This decision, determined by the Cantonment Board, Belgaum, is made in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 read with sub-section (1) of section 259 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006). The name change is effective from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. This action follows the Government of Karnataka's notification number KE 03 TNV 2006 dated 3rd December, 2014, which previously altered the name of the district of Belgaum to Belagavi, where the Cantonment is located.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-03092025-265943 EXTRAORDINARY PART III-Section 4 PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 15] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2025/BHADRA 11, 1947 MINISTRY OF DEFENCE NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 2nd September, 2025 S.R.O. 15(E).—Whereas, the Government of Karnataka has vide its notification number KE 03 TNV 2006 dated the 03rd December, 2014, altered the name of the existing district of Belgaum to district of Belagavi; And whereas, the Belgaum Cantonment is located within the district of Belagavi; And whereas, the Cantonment Board, Belgaum has determined to alter the name of the existing Belgaum Cantonment to Belagavi Cantonment; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 read with sub-section (1) of section 259 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006), the Central Government, as determined by the Cantonment Board, Belgaum, hereby declares the Belgaum Cantonment to Belagavi Cantonment with effect from date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
