No. 17/24/2024 -IF-I.—Whereas, section 40 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016) envisages that the Central Government shall, in consultation with the Chief Commissioner, formulate rules for persons with disabilities laying down the standards of accessibility for the phy sical environment, transportation, information and communications, including appropriate technologies and systems, and other facilities and services provided to the public in urban and rural areas; And whereas, the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, with intent to address accessibility needs of persons with disabilities in respect of the facilities and services pertaining to Financial Institutions, in consultation with the stakeholders and accordingly the office of the Chief Commi ssioner for Persons with Disabilities, formulates the “Accessibility Standard Guidelines for Infrastructure and Services in Financial Institutions across India”; Now therefore, the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance hereby notifies th e Accessibility Standard Guidelines for Infrastructure and Services in Financial Institutions across India as per the Annexure to this notification and the same is also available at https://financialservices.gov.in.
