No. 8/1/2026-ME.— WHEREAS, in pursuance of the provisions of Section 2 of the Salary and Allowances of Leaders of Opposition in Parliament Act, 1977 (No. 33 of 1977), the Chairman of the Council of States has recognized Shri Mallikarjun Kharge as the Leader of the Opposition in the Council of States with effect from 26th June, 2026. NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 9 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby notifies Shri Mallikarjun Kharge as the Leader of the Opposition in the Council of States with effect from 26th June, 2026 for the purpose of the said Act.
