The Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, vide Notification F. No. 7/32/2022-BOA-I dated 2nd February 2024, records that section 40 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016) envisages that the Central Government shall, in consultation with the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, formulate rules for persons with disabilities laying down standards of accessibility for the physical environment, transportation, information and communications, including appropriate technologies and systems, and other facilities and services provided to the public in urban and rural areas. Accordingly, the Department of Financial Services, with intent to address accessibility needs of persons with disabilities regarding facilities and services pertaining to the Banking Sector, in consultation with stakeholders and the office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, formulated the "Accessibility Standards and Guidelines for Banking Sector," which the Department now notifies, stating it is available at https://financialservices.gov.in.
