The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) issued G.S.R. 4(E) dated 2nd January 2024, under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), notifying the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of completion of 20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat Summit) Rules, 2024, effective from publication in the Official Gazette. The rules provide for coining a Twenty Rupees denomination commemorative coin, circular in shape with a 44 millimetre diameter and 200 serrations, composed of a quaternary alloy of 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, 5 per cent nickel and 5 per cent zinc. The coin's standard weight is prescribed as 35 grams, with a permissible remedy of plus or minus 1/500th in silver composition (content varying from 498 to 502 per 1000) and plus or minus 1/100th in standard weight (34.65 to 35.35 grams). The First Schedule specifies the coin's design: the obverse bears the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend 'Satyamev Jayate', 'Bharat' in Devanagari and 'INDIA' in English, plus the Rupee symbol and denominational value '20'; the reverse bears the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 logo with the inscription 'CELEBRATING 20 Years of VIBRANT GUJARAT' and the years 2003 and 2023. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of completion of 20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat Summit) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin.- The coin of Twenty Rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion completion of 20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat Summit. 3. Design.- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed.- The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 shall be coined to commemorate the occasion completion of 20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat Summit and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules. THE FIRST SCHEDULE [See rule 4] TWENTY RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “*” and denominational value "20" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: The face of the coin will bear the logo of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. At the bottom of the logo the inscription 'CELEBRATING 20 Years of VIBRANT GUJARAT' in English shall be written. The year ‘2003' and '2023' shall be in scripted on left and right side of the text ‘CELEBRATING 20 Years of VIBRANT GUJARAT'. The text “विकसित भारत @ 2047 के लिए अग्रसर गुजरात” shall be inscribed in Devnagari script on the upper periphery of the coin.
