Whereas the Joint Secretary to the Government of India, specially empowered under sub- section (1) of Section 3 of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (52 of 1974) issued Order No. PD-12001/15/2024-COFEPOSA dated 27.08.2024 under the said sub-section directing that Mr. Chhabi Lal Agasti alias Navraj, S/o Mr. Jhakraj Jaishi, R/o Gram Panchayat-1, Sakhuwa Prasauni, District Parsa, Nepal (Passport No. 05232524 issued by Government of Nepal) be detained and kept in Central Jail, Tihar, New Delhi with a view to preventing him from (i) smuggling of goods, (ii) engaging in transporting, concealing and keeping of smuggled goods and (iii) dealing in smuggled goods in future. 2. Whereas the Central Government has reasons to believe that the aforesaid person has absconded or has been concealing himself so that the Order cannot be executed. 3. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby directs the aforesaid person to appear before the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi within 7 days of the publication of this Order in the Official Gazette.
