This notification, S.O. 4903(E) dated 3rd September, 2026, issued by the Ministry of Railways (North Eastern Railway, Construction Organization), declares the acquisition of land for the Chhitauni-Tamkuhi Road New Railway Line Project (67.69 Km) in Tehsil Tamkuhi Raj of Kushinagar District, Uttar Pradesh. This action follows the Central Government's previous intention to acquire the land, which was declared via Notification S.O. 178 dated 11 September 2024, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, section 3 Sub-section (ii), dated 11 September 2024, under sub-section (1) of Section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989). The purpose of acquisition is for the execution, maintenance, management, and operation of this Special Railway Project. The substance of the previous notification was published in "Danik Jagaran (Gorakhpur Edition)" and "The Times of India (Lucknow Edition)" on 10 January 2026, as per sub-section (4) of Section 20A of the said Act. No objections were filed within the statutory time limit. Consequently, upon receipt of the Competent Authority's report and in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 20E of the Railways Act, 1989, the Central Government declares the land specified in the annexed schedule to be acquired. Furthermore, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of Section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government declares that upon publication of this notification, the land shall vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances. NOTIFICATION
Gorakhpur, the 3rd September, 2026

S.O. 4903(E).— Whereas, by the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Railways (North Eastern Railway, Construction Origination), Notification number S.O. 178 dated the 11 September 2024 published in Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, section 3 Sub-section (ii), dated 11 September 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the said notification) and issued under sub-section (1) of Section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government declares its intention to acquire the land specified in the schedule annexed to the said notification for the purpose of execution, maintenance, management and operation of Special Railway Project, namely Chhitauni- Tamkuhi Road New Railway Line Project (67.69 Km) in Tehsil Tamkuhi Raj of Kushinagar District in the State of Uttar Pradesh.

And whereas, the substance of the said notification was published in daily newspapers namely "Danik Jagaran (Gorakhpur Edition)" and "The Times of India (Lucknow Edition)" dated 10 January 2026 under sub section (4) of section 20A of the said Act.

And whereas any objection has not been filed within the statutory time limit.

Now therefore, upon receipt of the report of the Competent Authority, and in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that the lands specified in the schedule annexed hereto shall be acquired for the aforesaid purpose:

And further, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section. 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that on publication of this notification in the official Gazette, the land specified in the schedule annexed hereto shall vest absolutely in the Central government free from all encumbrances.
