IMU is a Teaching-cum-Affiliating University established by an Act of Parliament (No.22 of 2008) on 14th November 2008 to provide quality maritime education, training and research. b. The Non-Teaching employees, other than Statutory posts of Indian Maritime University are integral to achieving the University’s objectives of excellence in Academics & Research. They perform multiple roles across different sections and Campuses and therefore have to be competent and up-to-date in their knowledge and skill set. c. Comprehensive review of Recruitment, Promotional rules by realigning the positions within the sanctioned strength to cater the growing needs of the University and the career advancement of Non-Teaching. 2. Objective a. To appoint the best-suitable candidate for a post by identifying appropriate eligibility norms and following a proper Method of recruitment, whether by direct recruitment or by promotion or by deputation / absorption and percentage of the vacancies to be filled b. To strike a healthy balance between the functional requirements of the University and the career progression of the non-teaching employees. c. To ensure a fair process of selection in accordance with Act and Statutes of the Indian Maritime University along with the guidelines/directions issued by the Government of India from time to time. d.
