In exercise of powers conferred by clause (37A) of Section 2 of The Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), as introduced by clause 37A of the Railway (Amendment) Act 2008, the Central Government has notified the "Panvel-Chord lines between Panvel-Somtane and Panvel-Chikhli (7.54Km)" as a "Special Railway Project" under Central Railway. This notification is for the acquisition of land in Raigad District of Maharashtra State, to provide national infrastructure for a public purpose, effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
