The Department of Space issued Notification S.O. 5979(E) on December 15, 2025, in New Delhi, under the authority of the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution. This notification introduces the Department of Space Employees' (Classification, Control and Appeal) Amendment Rules, 2025, which come into force on their publication date in the Official Gazette (December 24, 2025). These rules amend the existing Department of Space Employees' (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1976. Specifically, in the Schedule appended to the 1976 Rules, the designation "Sr. Head, Personnel & General Administration / Head, Personnel & General Administration" under "ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC)" is replaced by "Sr. Head, Personnel & General Administration / Head, Personnel & General Administration / Officer on Special Duty (OSD)." Furthermore, "ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC)" is entirely substituted by "U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC)." The principal rules were originally published vide S.O. 270(E) dated April 1, 1976, in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) Part-II, Section-3, Sub-Section(ii), and have been subsequently amended 39 times, with the latest amendment cited as S.O. 2018(E) dated April 29, 2022, under file number E.14015/1/2012-IV.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-KA-E-24122025-268792 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY NEW DELHI, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2025/PAUSHA 3, 1947 No. 5780] DEPARTMENT OF SPACE NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 15th December, 2025 S.O. 5979(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution, the President hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Department of Space Employees' (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1976, namely:- 2. 1) These rules may be called the Department of Space Employees' (Classification, Control and Appeal) Amendment Rules, 2025. 2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. In the existing Schedule appended to the Department of Space Employees' (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1976, where the designation of Sr. Head, Personnel & General Administration / Head, Personnel & General Administration exists under ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), it shall be substituted by "Sr. Head, Personnel & General Administration / Head, Personnel & General Administration / Officer on Special Duty (OSD)."
