The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, through Notification S.O. 3495(E) dated 29th July, 2025, declares a specific highway as a national highway. This declaration is made by the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 2 of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956). The newly declared national highway, designated as NE 9 (Serial No. 636), is an expressway (Green Field) located in the State of Bihar. It commences from its junction with NH-22 near Mirnagar Arazi (Hazipur), connects Narharpur, Harlochanpur, Bazidpur, Saraunja, Rasna, Parora, and Fatehpur, and terminates at its junction with NH-27 near Hansadah (Purnia). Upon this declaration, the said highway is deemed to be specified in the Schedule to the National Highways Act, 1956, with its new serial number, national highway number, and description. The Schedule to the National Highways Act, 1956, was previously substituted vide notification number S.O.689 (E), dated 4th April, 2011, and subsequently amended vide notifications number S.O. 3376(E) and 3377(E) dated 23rd July, 2025.
