Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, issued Notification S.O. 2377(E) on 26th May, 2025. Exercising powers conferred by clause (c) of sub-section (3) of section 3 and sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Architects Act, 1972 (20 of 1972), the Central Government appoints two persons as members of the Council of Architecture. These individuals were elected from among themselves by the Heads of Architectural Institutions in India imparting full time instructions for recognized qualifications. The appointments are effective from 20th May, 2025, which is the date of their election, and are valid for the remainder of the term only or until their successors are duly elected, whichever occurs later. The appointed members are Ms. Gauri Nitin Shiurkar, Director, School of Architecture, Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, Pune, Maharashtra, and Mr. M.R. Kumarchandra, Dean, School of Architecture Srinivas Institute Of Technology, Mangalore, Karnataka.
