The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority revises the ceiling prices for specific scheduled formulations based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) of 2025 with a 0.64956% increase, effective from April 1, 2026.

Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Pharmaceuticals), through the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), issued Order S.O. 1584(E) on March 25, 2026, to revise the ceiling prices of certain scheduled formulations. This action is taken in exercise of powers conferred by sub-paragraphs (3) and (4) of paragraph 11, 14, and 16 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, read with S.O. 1394(E) dated May 30, 2013, S.O. 1192(E) dated March 22, 2016, and S.O. 5249(E) dated November 11, 2022. The order supersedes previous NPPA orders S.O. No. 1474(E) dated March 27, 2025, 2998(E) dated July 4, 2025, 3978(E) dated August 29, 2025, and 5019(E) dated November 4, 2025, concerning the specified formulation packs and manufacturers. The revision is based on a 0.64956% increase in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for the year 2025 over 2024, with new ceiling prices effective from April 1, 2026, exclusive of Goods and Services Tax. Specifically, the ceiling prices for Ringer lactate injection with special features are set as: Rs. 30.62 for 100 ml, Rs. 52.22 for 250 ml, Rs. 66.52 for 500 ml, and Rs. 116.95 for 1000 ml. Manufacturers listed in Table B, including M/s Albert David Ltd., M/s Aculife Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., M/s B. Braun Medical (India) Pvt. Ltd., M/s Fresenius Kabi India Pvt. Ltd., and M/s Ostuka Pharmaceuticals India Pvt. Ltd., are affected. Manufacturers selling above these new ceiling prices must revise their prices downward. Those with existing MRPs lower than the previous notified ceiling prices may revise their MRPs based on the WPI increase in accordance with paragraph 16(2) of DPCO, 2013. Manufacturers are required to submit revision information in Form-II within fifteen days and issue a price list in Form-V to NPPA through IPDMS, providing copies to the State Drug Controller and dealers. Non-compliance with the ceiling prices or specified notes will result in liability to deposit overcharged amounts with interest under the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, read with the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
