                Detailed Summary
            

            
The National Biodiversity Authority, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has issued S.O. 1653(E) on April 22, 2024, to extend the deadline for public and stakeholder comments on the draft Biological Diversity (Amendment) Rules, 2024. These rules, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) vide G.S.R. 78(E) dated January 31, 2024, pertain to access and benefit sharing mechanisms regarding biological resources and associated traditional knowledge. The initial deadline for submitting objections or suggestions was sixty days from the date of publication of the draft rules. This notification extends the period for receiving comments by another thirty days, meaning comments can now be submitted up to and including May 30, 2024. Comments should be sent to the Secretary, National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai, either by post or email to [email protected].
