L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-25062026-273842 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 452] NEW DELHI, MONDAY, JUNE 22, 2026/ASHADHA 1, 1948 MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th June, 2026 G.S.R. 503(E).—The following draft of certain rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which the Central Government proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by section 110 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), is hereby published as required by sub-section (1) of section 212 of the said Act, for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby; and notice is hereby given that the said draft rules will be taken into consideration after the expiry of thirty days from the date on which the copies of this notification as published in the Gazette of India, are made available to the public; The objections or suggestions which may be received from any person in respect of the said draft rules before the expiry of the aforesaid period will be considered by the Central Government. 3. Short title and commencement. — (1) these rules may be called as the Central Motor Vehicles (.......... Amendment) Rules, 2026. (2) Save as otherwise provided in these rules, they shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, after rule 125-S, following rules 125-T and 125-U shall be inserted namely:- "125-T. Safety Requirements for Vehicles with regard to their Cyber Security and Cyber Security Management systems (CSMS): On and from dates as specified in Table 1 below, motor vehicles of category M, N, T if fitted with at least one ECU and L7 with level 3 automation, as referred in the standard, shall meet requirements of Cyber Security and Cyber Security Management Systems as per AIS-189, as amended from time to time, till the corresponding BIS specifications are notified under the Bureau of Indian Standard Act, 2016 (11 of 2016)."
