Core Purpose

Amends the Cost and Works Accountants Regulations, 1959 by substituting "Calcutta" with "Delhi" in regulation 89.

Detailed Summary

This notification, issued by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, further amends the Cost and Works Accountants Regulations, 1959. As required by the Cost Accountants Act, 1959, a draft of the proposed amendments was published in the Gazette of India on 8th October, 2024, inviting public objections and suggestions within thirty days. The Council of the Institute considered the received objections and suggestions. In exercise of powers under the Cost Accountants Act, 1959 and with Central Government approval, the key amendment made is the substitution of the word "Calcutta" with "Delhi" in regulation 89 of the 1959 Regulations. The amendment, named the Cost and Works Accountants (Amendment) Regulations, 2025, comes into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. A note clarifies that "Calcutta" was officially renamed "Kolkata" in 2001.
