Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, by notification S.O. 4125(E) dated 19th September, 2024, in exercise of powers under sub-section (1) of section 3A of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956), declares the Central Government's intention to acquire land described in the appended Schedule for building (widening/two lane with paved shoulder/four laning), maintenance, management and operation of a Greenfield Highway in the stretch from Km. 61.23 to Km. 72.8 (at Kujanga, District Jagatsinghpur) in Jagatsinghpur district, Odisha. Interested persons may object within twenty-one days of gazette publication under sub-section (1) of section 3C of the Act, with objections to be made in writing to the Competent Authority (Tahasildar, Kujang), who must give the objector a hearing (in person or through a legal practitioner) and, after enquiry, allow or disallow the objection by order; such orders are final under sub-section (2) of section 3C. Land plans and other details are available for inspection at the Competent Authority's office. The Schedule lists individual survey/plot numbers to be acquired across Kujang Taluk in the villages of Badang, Samagol, Mangarajpur, Hatikena and numerous other villages, totaling 2,299 numbered land parcels (a mix of Private and Government-owned plots of types including Chaka, Canal, Rasta, Sarad Dofasali/Sarad Jol and similar local land-use classifications) with an aggregate area of 159.1814698 hectares. 94 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(ii)] MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 19th September, 2024 S.O. 4125(E).—In exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3A of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government, after being satisfied that for the public purpose, the land, the brief description of which is given in the Schedule below, is required for building (widening/two lane with paved shoulder/four laning etc.,), maintenance, management and operation of Greenfield Highway in the stretch of land from Km. 61.23 to Km. 72.8 (At-Kujanga, Dist-Jagatsingpur) in the district of Jagatsinghpur in the state of ODISHA, hereby declares its intention to acquire such land. Any person interested in the said land may, within twenty-one days from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, object to the use of such land for the aforesaid purpose under sub-section(1) of section 3C of the said Act. Every such objection shall be made to the Competent Authority, namely, Tahasildar, Kujang in writing and shall set out the grounds thereof and the Competent Authority shall give the objector an opportunity of being heard, either in person or by a legal practitioner, and may, after hearing all such objections and after making such further enquiry, if any, as the Competent Authority thinks necessary, by order, either allow or disallow the objections. Any order made by the Competent Authority under sub-section (2) of section 3C of the said Act shall be final. The land plans and other details of the land to be acquired under this notification are available and can be inspected by the interested person at the aforesaid office of the Competent Authority.
