The Ministry of Home Affairs, through Notification S.O. 3374(E) dated 23rd July, 2025, has constituted a National Crisis Management Committee. This committee is established by the Central Government in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 8A of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 (53 of 2005). The committee is designated as the apex body for managing major disasters with national ramifications. Its composition includes the Cabinet Secretary as Chairperson, and the Union Home Secretary, Defence Secretary, Secretary (Co-ordination) of the Cabinet Secretariat, and the Member and Head of Department of the National Disaster Management Authority as members. The Chairperson has the authority to co-opt experts or officers from Central or State Governments or any organization to assist the committee. Key functions include evaluating preparedness for disaster response, giving directions to enhance preparedness, coordinating and monitoring actions of various government ministries, departments, State Governments, National and State Authorities, and both Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations in disaster response, and issuing necessary directions for proper coordination and monitoring of disaster response across the country.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-23072025-264913 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY NEW DELHI, WEDNESDAY, JULY 23, 2025/SHRAVANA 1, 1947 No. 3301] 4919 GI/2025 2 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II-SEC. 3(ii)] MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 23rd July, 2025 S.O. 3374(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 8A of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 (53 of 2005), the Central Government hereby constitutes a National Crisis Management Committee, consisting of the following members, for the purposes of said Act, namely: - (a) Cabinet Secretary - Chairperson; (b) Union Home Secretary - Member; (c) Defence Secretary - Member; (d) Secretary (Co-ordination), Cabinet Secretariat - Member; (e) Member and Head of Department, the National Disaster Management Authority - Member. 2. The National Crisis Management Committee shall be the apex committee for dealing with situation of a major disaster, which has national ramifications. 3. The Chairperson of the National Crisis Management Committee may co-opt any expert or any officer either from the Central Government or the State Government or any organisation, depending on the nature of the crisis, to assist the Committee in performing its functions during the threatening disaster situation or emerging disaster situation or disaster. 4. The National Crisis Management Committee shall evaluate preparedness for the purpose of responding to any threatening disaster situation or emerging disaster situation or disaster and give directions, where necessary, for enhancing such preparedness. 5. The National Crisis Management Committee shall co-ordinate and monitor actions of the concerned Ministries or Departments of the Government of India, State Governments, National Authority, State Authorities, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations in relation to disaster response. 6. The National Crisis Management Committee shall give such directions as may be necessary for the proper co- ordination and monitoring of disaster response in the country. [F.
