The Order requires listed products, including steel wire ropes (IS 2266:2019), steel wire suspension ropes (IS 2365:2018), stranded steel wire ropes for mining haulage (IS 1855:2022), steel wire rope for haulage (IS 1856:2005), hot dip galvanized stay strand (IS 2141:2000), wire ropes for oil wells (IS 4521:2001), braided nylon ropes (IS 6590:1972), galvanized steel barbed wire (IS 278:2009) and hexagonal wire mesh gabions (IS 16014:2018), to conform to the corresponding Indian Standards and bear the BIS Standard Mark under license per Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated the certifying and enforcing authority, and contravention is punishable under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. Short title and commencement. - (1) This order may be called the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes and Wire mesh (Quality Control) Order, 2023. (2) It shall come into force on the expiry of six month from the date of publication of this notification in Official Gazette. 2. Conformity to standards and compulsory use of Standard Mark. - Goods or articles specified in column (1) of the Table shall conform to the corresponding In dian Standard mentioned in column (2) of the Table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme -1 of Schedule -II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018: Provided t hat nothing in this Order shall apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. Provided that in relation to micro enterprises, as defined under clauses (h) and (m), respectively of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it shall come into force on the expiry of twelve month from the da te of publication of this notification. Provided that in relation to small enterprises, as defined under clauses (h) and (m), respectively of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), it shall come into force o n the expiry of nine month from the date of publication of this notification. 3. Certification and enforcement authority. - The Bureau of Indian Standards shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles specified in the Table. 4. Penalty for Contravention. – Any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
