L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-21112024-258812 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 662] NEW DELHI, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2024/KARTIKA 30, 1946 MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 21st November, 2024 G.S.R. 721(E).-WHEREAS, the draft rules to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, were published, as required by sub-section (1) of section 212 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways number G.S.R. 497(E), dated the 9th August, 2024, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of the period of thirty days from the date on which copies of the official Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public; AND WHEREAS, copies of the said Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public on the 13th August, 2024; rules; AND WHEREAS, no objections and suggestions were received from the public in respect of the said draft NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 110 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, namely:- 1. Short Title and commencement.-(1) These rules may be called the Central Motor Vehicles (Twelfth Amendment) Rules, 2024. (2) Save as otherwise provided in these rules, they shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, after rule 125-N following rule shall be inserted, namely: - "125-O. Safety Requirements for Electric Power Train Construction Equipment Vehicles. – On and after 1st day of January, 2025, Construction Equipment Vehicles fitted with Electric Power Train shall meet requirements as specified in AIS-174, till the corresponding BIS specifications are notified under the Bureau of Indian Standard Act, 2016 (11 of 2016)."
