Detailed Summary

Issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (S.O. 4581(E), dated 19 October 2023, published in the Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii)), the notification confirms, under sub-sections (1) and (2) of Section 3D of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956), the acquisition of land needed for constructing, widening (two/four-laning), maintaining, managing and operating NH 731A between km 112.950 and km 147.200, together with the 8.300 km left-side Chitrakoot bypass, in Chitrakoot district, Uttar Pradesh. It follows the Ministry's earlier declaration of intent to acquire under Section 3A(1), S.O. 1964(E) dated 28 April 2023 (Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3(ii)), whose substance was published under Section 3A(3) on 4 May 2023 in the newspapers Amar Ujala and The Times of India. Objections received were considered and disallowed by the competent authority, which then submitted its report under Section 3D(1). On publication, the land specified in the annexed Schedule vests absolutely in the Central Government, free of all encumbrances. The Schedule lists, khasra-wise across villages in the Chitrakoot area (including Moharwan and Rampuria Awal), the type of land (Government/Private/Common), its use (agricultural, Sadak, Talab, Nadi, Banjar, etc.), area, and the names of landowners/interested persons; the total area acquired under the Schedule is 108.4202 hectares across 916 entries.
