Librarian, Central Reference Library, Kolkata, West Bengal Functions of The Committee The functions of the Committee are to render advice regarding implementation of the provisions Acts/Rules relating to Official Language contained in the Constitution, Policy decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti, instructions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs/Department of Official Language and also regarding the Progressive use of Hindi in the Ministry of Culture and its Attached/Subordinate Offices/Autonomous Institutions. Tenure The tenure of the members of the Samiti shall ordinarily be three years from the date of its constitution provided that: (a) Members of Parliament who are the members of the Committee shall cease to be members as soon as they cease to be Members of Parliament. (b) Ex-officio Members of the Committee shall continue as Members as long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are Members of the Committee. (c) If any vacancy arises on the Committee due to resignation or death of a Member, the Member appointed in that capacity shall hold the office for the residual term of three years. (d) Tenure of the Committee can be extended or curtailed in the special circumstances. TRAVELLING AND OTHER ALLOWANCES As per Department of Official Language's Office Memorandum No. II/20034/4/2005-O.L (Policy-2) dated 03.02.2006. Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance to Non Official Members of the committee will be paid as under:- (a) The Members of Parliament nominated in this committee will be paid travelling Allowance and Daily allowance for attending the meetings of the Committee as per the provisions of the Members of Parliament (Salary, Allowance and Pension), Act, 1954 and Rules made thereunder and the amendments issued from time to time. (b) Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance to other Non-Official Members of the Committee will be paid as per guidelines contained in the Department of Official Language's Office Memorandum No. II/2/22034/4/86-O.L (A-2) dated 22 January, 1987 and in accordance with the prescribed rates and rules of the Government of India as amended from time to time. GENERAL : The headquarters of the Samiti shall be in New Delhi. As per the decision taken during the 31st meeting of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti constituted under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Prime Minister, held on 06.09.2018 and according to the Department of Official Language letter no. 14013/01/2019 dated 21.01.2029, meetings of Hindi Salahakar Samiti should be held in Delhi. ORDER Ordered that a copy of this resolution be sent to all Members of the Committee, all State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, President Secretariat, Vice President Secretariat, Prime Minister's Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Parliament Committee on Official Language, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Accountant General, Central Revenue, Niti Aayog, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Pay and Accounts office of Ministry of Culture and all the Ministries and Departments of the Government of India.
