L. -33004/99 EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 537] NEW DELHI, WEDNES DAY , SEPTEMBER 18, 2024/BHADRA 27, 1946 CG-DL-E-19092024-257234 MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (Railway Board) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 18th September, 202 4 G.S.R. 579 (E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by section 198 of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Railways (Opening for Public Carriage of Passengers) Rules, 2000 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), namely: - 1. (1) These rules may be called the Railways (Opening for Public Carriage of Passengers) Second Amendment Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In Chapter II of the said rules, - (a) sub-rule (2) of rule 3 shall be omitted; (b) in rule 4, for the words, brackets and figures “sub -rule (2) of rule 3”, the words, brackets and figures “sub -rule (3) of rule 3” shall be substituted; (c) in sub -rule (4) of rule 5A, for the words and figure “proviso to rule 3”, the words, brackets and figures “proviso to sub -rule (3) of rule 3” shall be substituted. 3. In Chapter VII of the said rules, - (a) in sub -rule (1) of rule 24, for the words and figure “proviso to rule 3”, the words, brackets and figures “proviso to sub -rule (3) of rule 3” shall be substituted; (b) in sub -rule (1) of rule 25, for the words and figure “proviso to rule 3”, the words, brackets and figures “proviso to sub -rule (3) of rule 3” shall be substituted; (c) in sub -rule (3) of rule 25, for the words and figure “proviso to rule 3”, the words, brackets and figures “proviso to sub -rule (3) of rule 3” shall be substituted. 4. In Chapter VIII of the said rules, in rule 36, for sub -rule (4), the following sub -rule shall be substituted, namely: - “(4) In order to maintain safety for through running, points for trap sidings must not be inserted in the main line, except under approved special instructions in accordance with the Indian Railways Signal Engineering Manual.” .
