The Bureau of Indian Standards, under the Department of Consumer Affairs, issued Notification Ref: HQ-PUB013/1/2020-PUB-BIS (1483) on March 11, 2026, in pursuance of Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. This notification establishes six new Indian Standards on March 10, 2026. These include IS 228 (Part 26): 2026 (ISO 4940: 2025) for Nickel Content in Steels and IS 228 (Part 27): 2026 (ISO/TR 17055: 2002) for Silicon Content in Steels, both by Spectrometric Method. Additionally, four revised standards are established: IS 2265: 2026 (Second Revision) for Galvanized Steel Wire Strand; IS 5421: 2026 (Third Revision) for Glossary of Terms Relating to Test Sieves; IS 12608: 2026 (First Revision) for Determination of Rebound Hardness of Rock; and IS 13063: 2026 (First Revision) for Design and Construction of Shallow Foundations on Rocks. The notification specifies that previous versions of these four revised standards (IS 2265-1978, IS 5421: 2013, IS 12608: 1989, and IS 13063: 1991) will be withdrawn on September 10, 2026.
