These regulations, effective from their publication date of September 14, 2026, are made under section 39 read with sections 13 and 14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). They amend the Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking) Regulations, 2018, by substituting Schedule IV, which details the hallmarking fees. For gold articles, jewellers shall pay Rs. 75/- per article (minimum Rs. 200/- per consignment) to recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres, while the Bureau shall levy Rs. 7.5/- per article (minimum Rs. 20/- per consignment) from these centres. For silver articles, jewellers shall pay Rs. 35/- per article (minimum Rs. 150/- per consignment) to recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres, and the Bureau shall levy Rs. 3.5/- per article (minimum Rs. 15/- per consignment) from these centres. Applicable taxes are to be levied in addition to these fees. No. BS/11/05/2018. - In exercise of the powers conferred by section 39 read with sections 13 and 14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Bureau with the previous approval of the Central Government, hereby makes the following regulations further to amend the Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking) Regulations, 2018, namely: - 1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These regulations may be called the Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking) Amendment Regulations, 2026. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking) Regulations, 2018, for Schedule IV, the following Schedule shall be substituted, namely:- "Schedule IV (Refer sub-regulation (10) of regulation 10) Hallmarking Fee 1. (a) The Hallmarking fee for gold articles payable to recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres by jewellers shall be: (i) Rs. 75/- per article; and (ii) minimum fee for a consignment as Rs. 200/-. (b) The Hallmarking fee to be levied by the Bureau from Assaying and Hallmarking Centre for gold articles shall be: (i) Rs. 7.5/- per article; and (ii) minimum fee for a consignment as Rs. 20/-. 2. (a) The Hallmarking fee for silver articles payable to recognised Assaying and Hallmarking Centres by jewellers shall be : (i) Rs. 35/- per article; and (ii) minimum fee for a consignment as Rs. 150/-. (b) The Hallmarking fee to be levied by the Bureau from Assaying and Hallmarking Centre for silver articles shall be: (i) Rs. 3.5/- per article; and (ii) minimum fee for a consignment Rs. 15/-. Note: Applicable taxes as per prevalent rates shall be levied in addition to the above.". ALKA, Secy.
