This action is taken by the Government of India in pursuance of clause (a) of Section 2 of the Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User in Land) Act, 1962 (50 of 1962). The de-notification specifically applies to M/s GAIL (India) Limited for all its Natural Gas Pipeline Projects located within the State of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The Competent Authority was initially notified vide S.O.2671(E) dated July 8, 2024, which was published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India on July 9, 2024. This current notification becomes effective from its date of issue, November 25, 2025.
