                Detailed Summary
            

            
The Bureau of Indian Standards, under the Department of Consumer Affairs, issued a notification on August 5, 2026 (Ref: HQ-PUB013/1/2020-PUB-BIS (1582)), in pursuance of Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. This notification formally establishes 26 Indian Standards, as detailed in the annexed schedule, all with an establishment date of August 4, 2026. These established standards cover diverse subjects including metallic materials testing (IS 1608 (Part 5): 2026), textiles (e.g., IS 3256: 2026 for inland packaging of ropes and cordages, IS 5175: 2026 for fibre ropes, IS 19763: 2026 for aircraft woven carpet, IS 19783: 2026 for 100 percent nylon woven fabric, IS 11916: 2026 for continuous filament glass yarn), industrial components (e.g., IS 7385: 2026 for taper grooved pins), environmental pollution control (e.g., IS 7967: 2026 for marine coastal outfalls, IS 10447: 2026 for solid waste management in iron and steel plants, IS 11304: 2026 for air pollution control in iron and steel plants, IS 12112: 2026 for air pollution in refractory industries, IS 12185: 2026 for air pollution in aluminium industry, IS 19879: 2026 for air quality management plan, IS 19880: 2026 for air pollution from plastic waste pyrolysis, IS 19881: 2026 for ambient air pollution assessment), safety of machinery (IS 16810 (Part 1): 2026, IS 16815: 2026), and soil quality sampling (IS 19882 (Part 1, 2, 3): 2026). For standards replacing previous versions, such as IS 3256 – 1980 being replaced by IS 3256: 2026, the older standards will remain in force concurrently until their specified withdrawal dates, typically February 4, 2027. are given in the second column of the schedule hereto annexed have been established on the date indicated against it in
third column. The particulars of the standards, if any which are given in the fourth column shall also remain in force
concurrently till they are withdrawn on the date indicated against them in the fifth column
