The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs) issued G.S.R. 378(E) on June 10, 2025, publishing the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Group 'A' posts) Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2025. These rules, which came into force on their publication in the Official Gazette on June 11, 2025, further amend the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Group 'A' posts) Recruitment Rules, 2023. The amendment is made in exercise of powers conferred by clause (zb) of sub-section (2) of section 101 read with sub-section (3) of section 57 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (35 of 2019). Specifically, the rules substitute the entries under column (12) in the Schedule for serial number 4 (Assistant Registrar) and serial number 5 (Principal Private Secretary). For the Assistant Registrar, both the Departmental Promotion Committee and Departmental Confirmation Committee will now consist of a Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Chairperson); Registrar or Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Member); and Director or Deputy Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs (Member). For the Principal Private Secretary, the Departmental Promotion Committee will comprise a Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Chairperson); Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Member); and Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Member), while the Departmental Confirmation Committee will include a Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Chairperson); Registrar or Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Member); and Director or Deputy Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs (Member). The principal rules were originally published vide G.S.R. 120 (E) dated February 22, 2023, and previously amended by G.S.R. 588 (E) dated September 24, 2024, and G.S.R. 746 (E) dated December 3, 2024.

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (zb) of sub-section (2) of section 101 read with sub-section (3) of section 57 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (35 of 2019), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Group 'A' posts) Recruitment Rules, 2023, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement – (1) These rules may be called the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Group 'A' posts) Recruitment (Amendment) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Group 'A' posts) Recruitment Rules, 2023, - (a) in the Schedule, against serial number 4, relating to the post of Assistant Registrar, for the entries under column (12), the following entries shall be substituted, namely:- "Departmental Promotion Committee (for considering promotion) consisting of:- (i) Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Chairperson; (ii) Registrar or Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Member; (iii) Director or Deputy Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs – Member. "Departmental Confirmation Committee (for considering confirmation) consisting of:- (i) Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Chairperson; (ii) Registrar or Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Member; (iii) Director or Deputy Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs – Member. (b) against serial number 5, relating to the post of Principal Private Secretary, for the entries under column (12), the following shall be substituted, namely:- "Departmental Promotion Committee (for considering promotion) consisting of:- (i) Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Chairperson; (ii) Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Member; (iii) Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Member. "Departmental Confirmation Committee (for considering confirmation) consisting of:- (i) Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Chairperson; (ii) Registrar or Joint Registrar, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission – Member; (iii) Director or Deputy Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs – Member”.
