L. -33004/99 EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 151] NEW DELHI , FRIDAY , MARCH 8, 2024 /PHALGUNA 18, 1945 CG-DL-E-11032024-252813 MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 7th March , 2024 G.S.R. 163(E).—WHEREAS, the draft ru les to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, were published, as required by sub -section (1) of section 212 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways nu mber G.S.R. 911(E), dated the 22nd December, 2023, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part -II, Section 3, Sub -section (i), inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of th e period of thirty days from the date on which copies of the official Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public; AND WHEREAS, copies of the said Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public on the 22nd December, 2023; AND WHEREAS, no objections and suggestions were received from the public in respect of the said draft rules; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -section(1) of section 110 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, namely: - 1. Short Title and commencement. -(1) These rules may be called the Central Motor Vehicles (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, - (i) in rule 115A, in sub -rule (10), in Table 2, in the heading “Applicable with effect from”, for the figures and words, “1st April, 2024”, the figures and words “1st January, 2025” shall be substituted. (ii) in rule 120, in sub -rule (6), for the figures and words, “1st April, 2024”, the figures and words “1st January, 2025” shall be substituted. (iii) in rule 120, in s ub-rule (6), in Table 1 and Table 2 for the figures and words, “1st day of April, 2024”, the figures and words “1st day of January, 2025” shall be substituted. (iv) in rule 124C, for the figures and words, “1st April, 2024”, the figures and words “1st January, 2025” shall be substituted. [No. RT -11028/22/2016 -MVL(part -1)] Mahmood Ahmed, Addl. Secy .
