The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, through Notification S.O. 3078(E) dated July 10, 2025, exercising powers under Section 11 of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988 (68 of 1988), amends notification S.O. 1426(E) dated May 5, 2017. This amendment substitutes entries in the Table of the principal notification: the previous entry for National Highway No. NH-75, described as 'Ranchi to Nagar Utari Section (In the State of Jharkhand)' with chainage 'Km. 00.00 to Km. 259.000', is replaced with new entries for National Highway No. NH-39 (Old NH-75), described as 'Ranchi – Nagar Untari –Jharkhand/Uttar Pradesh border Section' covering the 'Entire NH in the State of Jharkhand'. Additionally, through Notification S.O. 3079(E) dated July 10, 2025, the Central Government, under Section 5 of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956), further amends notification S.O 1096(E) dated August 4, 2005, which was issued by the erstwhile Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways (Department of Road Transport and Highways). This amendment substitutes serial number 10 and its related entries in the Schedule of the said notification, directing that State Governments shall exercise functions for the execution of works pertaining to the specified National Highways, subject to compliance with the rules under the National Highways Act, 1956.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956), the Central Government hereby directs that the functions in relation to the execution of works pertaining to each of the National Highways described in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed shall be exercisable by the State Government specified in column (3) of the Table against each highway subject to the condition that the State Government concerned shall in the exercise of such functions be bound to comply with the rules for the time being in force under the said Act and for that purpose makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the erstwhile Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways (Department of Road Transport and
