Core Purpose

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has extended the implementation date for the 'Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order, 2025' regarding SPV inverters (items 4-5) of capacity greater than 200 kW, until December 31, 2026, or until further orders.

Detailed Summary

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, through Notification S.O. 3706(E) dated July 3, 2026, has extended the implementation of the 'Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order, 2025' for Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) inverters, specifically items 4-5, with a capacity exceeding 200 kW (>200 kW). This extension, superseding a previous extension to June 30, 2026, by S.O. 3597 (E) dated August 5, 2025, is now valid until December 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The decision is based on the availability of limited test facilities and the need to provide more time for compliance. The extension is granted subject to manufacturers providing self-certification and possessing valid IEC certificates corresponding to specified Indian standards (IS 16221 (Part 2): 2015/ IEC 62109-2: 2011 & IS/IEC 61683: 1999 for item No. 4; IS 16221 (Part 2): 2015/ IEC 62109-2: 2011, IS 16169: 2019/ IEC 62116: 2014 & IS 17980: 2022/IEC 62891:2020 for item No. 5) and test reports from accredited test labs. The original 'Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order, 2025' (S.O. 492 (E) dated January 27, 2025) was issued by the Central Government under sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16 read with section 17 and sub-section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), and had superseded the Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017.
