The Central Government, through the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (PHRD Division), issued Notification G.S.R. 533(E) on 5th August, 2025, exercising powers conferred by sub-section 1 (f) of Section 3 of the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021. This notification partially modifies Notification G.S.R. No. 217 (E) dated 19th March, 2024, issued by the same Ministry. It appoints Shri Tapas Kumar Biswas, a 2nd Class Driver in the Marine Department, as a Member representing the interests of employees on the Board of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority, replacing Shri Asim Kumar Sutradhar, General Secretary of the National Union of Waterfront Workmen (I). This appointment takes immediate effect and is subject to the provisions of the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021. Its validity extends until the earliest of: the date of validity of check-off, the attainment of age of superannuation of the Members, or until further orders.

No. 217 (E) dated 19th March, 2024, the Central Government hereby appoints Shri Tapas Kumar Biswas, 2nd Class Driver, Marine Department in place of Shri Asim Kumar Sutradhar, General Secretary, National Union of Waterfront Workmen (I) as Member representing the interests of employees on the Board of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority with immediate effect. The appointment of Member of the Board shall be subject to the provisions of the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021. The appointment is valid till the date of validity of check-off, or until the attainment of age of superannuation of the Members, or till further orders, whichever is earliest. [F.
