Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, through notification S.O. 55(E) dated January 5, 2026, has amended its previous notification S.O. 304(E) dated January 19, 2024. This amendment, made by the Central Government under the powers conferred by section 11 of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988 (68 of 1988), substitutes existing entries in the Table of the principal notification. Specifically, the descriptions for National Highways NH-709A, NH-709B, and NH-709AD have been revised. For NH-709A, the route now includes merging with NH-709B near Tajpur Simbhalka (on Shamli Ring Road) and again starting from Junction of NH-709AD near Taprana (on Shamli Ring Road) in Uttar Pradesh. For NH-709B, the route specifies a part of Shamli Ring Road (Balwa – Tajpur Simbhalka –Banat). For NH-709AD, the route now includes a part of Shamli Ring Road (Kandela Shekhupura - Taprana- Badheo –Gohomi –Banat) and a new spur (part of Shamli Ring Road) starting from its junction near Kandela connecting Lilaun and terminating at NH-709B near Balwa in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The scope for all three highways remains their entire length within the States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and NCT of Delhi, as applicable.
